Lets Talk About Candle Care
Candle Care is important to ensure the quality and life of your candle but also the safety of your home. Here at The Rosie Market we do our part to ensure our candles are free of phthalates, dyes and fillers. Allowing you to enjoy a long lasting, clean burning candle in your favorite scents. But, there are a few steps you need to take to ensure this.
- Never leave your candle unattended. Keep it a safe distance from children and pets.
- Avoid putting your candle near drafts, vents, and fans. This may cause an uncontrollable flame and your candle will put off extra smoke and soot.
- Your first burn is the MOST IMPORTANT. Make sure you are able to burn your candle for 3-4 hours or until the wax melt pool reaches the edge of the candle jar. If you extinguish your candle too soon it can cause tunneling, preventing your candle from burning properly. Tunneling is when the candle burns down the center and wax is left all around the jar.
- DO NOT burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. This will ensure a clean burn, free of large dangerous flames and the black soot we all want to avoid.
- ALWAYS trim your wick prior to lighting your candle. (The Rosie Market candles are pre trimmed so you will not have to trim your candle until after the first burn). Your wick should be trimmed to 1/4 inch. Not trimming your wick causes carbon build up. Carbon build up causes large flames, black candle wax, and a black candle jar.
- If your candle is burning and you notice soot or a high flame, extinguish the flame, trim the wick and relight.
